We are very lucky to live so close to many fantastic theme parks both in the UK and in the rest of Europe. If you like theme parks in general then you have probably heard of and been to our best ones here in the UK like Alton Towers or Thorpe Park. But where to find a theme park if you are traveling further afield this summer? There is a bounty to choose from wherever you are in Europe depending on what sort of park you are looking for.

Family friendly

If you find yourself in Germany and have a young family, then Europa Park is the place to keep the children amused. They are particularly keen on staying child-friendly so none of their rides have over-the-shoulder restraints but are still fun and terrifying enough to keep all pleased. And of course, a family theme park list would not be perfect without the most well-loved park in Europe, Disneyland Paris. 15 million visitors a year can’t be incorrect and if you can cope with the crowds this is a certain must.

Idyllic landscapes

A bit further off the beaten track is Port Aventura in Spain. The surroundings may not initially appeal on the drive to this park but once there the incredible landscape and scenery are sure to win you over as much as the rides. Similarly, Gardaland in Italy is situated on the spectacular shores of Lake Garda and as well as the rides this park also includes a Sealife Aquarium to give you a small calming time between the roller-coaster frenzy.

Inner city parks

If you prefer the bustle of busy towns and don’t want to travel too far out into the countryside then there are two parks based in cities that are worth traveling to. The Tivoli Gardens is one of the oldest theme parks in the world and boasts a wooden roller-coaster originally built-in 1914. It is in the center of Copenhagen and is a lovely place to visit even if you don’t go particularly for the rides. Also for more than forty different rides and attractions you can find one of the most well-loved parks in Scandinavia, Liseberg in the center of the majestic Swedish city of Gothenburg.

Where to get tickets and information

There are many guides to European theme parks to help you make your choice and even review sites for the real deal on what visitors to these parks reckon including comments on the party rides.

There are many places that sell theme park tickets on the internet but the valuable thing to remember when searching for tickets for these attractions, particularly those trying to sell the very well-loved Disneyland Paris tickets, is that there are many conmen out there. Make sure that the site you are using is a valid company selling proper tickets before parting with your hard-earned cash.

Look out for deals bundling travel and park entry, for example, Eurotunnel offers Disneyland Paris Tickets combined with travel to France from the UK via Eurotunnel trains.

How to get there

Compelling your car over to Europe is ideal if you want to have more hegemony over where and when you travel around. This is particularly right when visiting theme parks as they aren’t automatically going to be within simple access of where you will be staying. If you don’t want to waste time traveling but want to get your holiday started as soon as possible, there is nothing simpler than driving your car onto the Eurotunnel shuttle and off in Calais 35 minutes later. With simple motorway links it makes for a very speedy start to your trip and you can get down to the valuable job of having fun at your chosen theme park.

All in all, there are a whole host of different parks to choose from in many different countries and I’m sure you’ll have a fabulous time whichever one you choose to visit. Pleased roller-coaster!
